Adding One-Digit Integers
Integer Addition: Learn
If one of the integers is negative and the other positive, subtract the absolute values (absolute value is also known as magnitude) and keep the sign of the number with the larger magnitude.
Examples:
14 + (-6) = 8
-14 + 6 = -8
If both integers have the same sign (both positive or both negative), add the absolute values and keep the same sign that they have.
Examples:
14 + 6 = 20
-14 + (-6) = -20
